Dryden Leads Potential Candidates in Ontario

SES Research has a new poll out today which shows Ken Dryden as the top choice among all Ontario voters to replace Paul Martin.

You can download the stat sheet here.

This only shows that Ken has to decide soon what he's planning on doing.

Canadians want you in the race Ken - let's get the party started!

We need a hockey player to lead our country, like we need a hole in the head. Anyone but him please. HE's just a celebrity candiddate who was given one uncontentious very narrow job to accomplish aka give provinces money for child care. I will most certainly never vote again if this piece of fluff can actually be considered leadership material. It's so much like arnorl in Californnia and Jessie ventura in Minnesota it makes me wnat to barf. How about Todd Bertuzzi for Priemier? Give me a fucking break.

Well it's too bad anonymous feels that way.

Mr. Dryden is more than a hockey player, although that is what he's probably best known for.

He's an author, former superintendent of Ontario's schools, a lawyer, the president of a large organization and MP and Minister. He can be credited with establishing Canada's first new national social program in a generation. Not a bad resume if I say so myself.

Anonymous - give me a better candidate - or are you just a Conservative scared of a real fight, or a New Democrat shitting his/her pants because Ken would destroy your party's support.

I'm am not a conservative and Mr. Dryden is most certainly a parachute celebrity candidate who was given a cabinet post for that reeaason and given a very easy job to accomplish aka put the icing on a cake of a deal that he is most certainly not resoponsible for. I hear that you can buy legal degrees in the U.S. Being a lawyer means nothing. Lots of athletes get given degrees just for being athletes too. Minister for sport maybe. Prime Minister never. He was parachuted in by Martin as a celebrity candidate for gods sake. That alone disqualifies him for leadership.

Oh yeah, I'm not NDP either. Like I said I might not even vote again if political parties don't start puting forward serious candidates who stand for something not just celebrities or self interested parties like MR. Emerson. Oh yeah he was recruited by Mr. Martin too and look how well he stood up for Liberal values.

Anonymous: All I can say is your attitude is atrocious.

You obviously do not see Mr. Dryden as a human being, you just see him as a label, namely a "hockey player".

Tell me, is there any other people out there who are just labels to you?

I am not certain I would like Mr. Dryden as PM either. I would have to hear what he has to say first and then make a decision.

However, I am not going to dismiss him out of hand because if his past profession, or the fact he is male, or the fact he is white, or the fact he is Christian (I think) or any other fucking label you can think of.

I challenge you anonymous to look past the label you have stuck on Mr. Dryden and make an honest effort to find out what he is really all about. If you still do not think he would be right for PM, then no problem. But your current opinions are based on ignorance and prejudice and as far as I am concerned completely invalid.

anonymous - to prove that you're not just spewing a bunch of vitriolic BS, how about offering up the name of candidate you would prefer. Or even a nameless description of the qualities or resume you think would be appropriate for a candidate for PM.

Wow that's a real jump from not wanting someone to be prime minister to not thinking someone is human. I will repeat. Mr. Dryden is one of Mr. Martin's parachuted star candidates, whose main claim to fame is being a celebrity hockey player. This is not vitriolic nor is it dehumanizing. It is simply the truth. I expect more fro a candidate than celebrity status amnd there are millions of more qualified candidates than Mr. Dryden. Why do you support him? Probably because he's a celebrity. He has not distinguished himself in the Liberal party. Like I said he was given one very easy job to accomplish by his patron Mr. Martin. That doesn't make him Prime Minister material I'm sorry. If you want to attack me because I expect more from that position then you and your party have a long way to go before you'll get my vote again or lots of other people's for that matter. Mr. Martin was defeated because he and his p[eople were very good at attacking others who had very distinguished records of service in the Liberal party. His treatment of Sheila Copps, Allan Rock, John Manley, and others are what defeated him. Seems like you still haven't learned that lesson. Mr. MArtins hand picked celebrity candidates haveno business in a leadership race. They are the reason this party is in the trouble it is and the entire counrty can see it.

ps. That goes for Mr. Ignattieff as well, so I don't just discriminate against hockey players. I obviously have a thing against Harvard academics as well.

Now that I think of it, If John Manely, Allan Rock and Sheila Copps can decide on who they think would make the best leader of the liberal party I will personally join the party and vote for a deligate to support that candidate. What a great idea. I think I'll e-mail them now.

"We need a hockey player to lead our country, like we need a hole in the head." Your very first words anonymous.

The sad thing anonymous is you do not seem to realize that you have dehumanized Mr. Dryden.

In every post what you say about him boils down to the label of "hockey player" that you have given him.

The really funny thing is that it is no longer true. He has not played professional hockey in about 25 years.

Do you know or even care what he has done since then? My guess is no. You have made up your narrow mind and the fact that you do not even want to consider other alternatives speaks volumes about you.

As well, if you would have read my post a little more closely you would have noted that I do not support Mr. Dryden.

My challenge stands. Go and learn what he has done for the last 25 years or so and then come back and tell us why he should not be Prime Minister. Your opinions would be a great deal more credible it you did that.

Why are you bashing Mr. Dryden and Mr. Igatieff. It is not very nice. just because thety were parachuted does not mean they are good people. It is not their fault. Together, they both have more brains in their left thumb than the entire of whatever party you belong to.
You should be more careful of whom you speak
